Matthew Matimbwi is a Tanzanian that works to promote appropriate technologies focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency since the year 1994. He works for rural and suburban poor communities to access; sustainable energy, water and sanitation services and housing. In the area of sustainable energy, he promotes technologies of solar, biomass and wind. Matthew Matimbwi studied at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania and the University of Flensburg in Germany. He also studied at LIFE Academy in Sweden where he mastered Wind Power Use and Planning.

Matthew Matimbwi plans, designs, develops and implements projects related to the rural and suburban communities. 

Community training and awareness-raising on the potentials of renewable energy & energy efficiency technologies are of the highest priority of Matthew Matimbwi.

Matthew Matimbwi is registered by Tanzania Engineers Registration Board (ERB); and is a member of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET), Tanzania Renewable Energy Association; Engineering for Change; Asian-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and GreenCape.
