Matthew Matimbwi, born in Malinyi, Tanzania, is a Tanzanian who has been working to promote appropriate sustainable technologies focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency since 1994. He works for rural and suburban poor communities to access sustainable energy solutions, water, and sanitation services, and housing. In the area of sustainable energy, he promotes solar energy, biomass energy and wind energy. Matthew Matimbwi studied at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania and the University of Flensburg in Germany. He also studied at LIFE Academy in Sweden, where he mastered Wind Power Use and Planning. He has attended continuous courses from Technical University Wildau, Arbeitsgruppe Entwicklung und Fachkräfte im Bereich der Migration und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit gGmbH, German Protestant Students Union, Justus-Liebig University Giessen, Renewables Academy (RENAC) Berlin, World Bank Institute, Mohr Konzept GmbH, University of Pennsylvania, University of Washington, and Global Water Centre.
Matthew Matimbwi plans, designs, develops and implements projects for rural and suburban communities.
Training and awareness-raising on the potentials of renewable energy & energy efficiency technologies are of the highest priority for Matthew Matimbwi.
Matthew Matimbwi is registered by the Tanzania Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and is a member of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET), Tanzania Renewable Energy Association; Engineering for Change; Asian-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
